Топики для экзаменов по английскому языку. Тема: Watching TV (Просмотр телевизора)

Топик "Watching TV" для сдачи экзамена по английскому в школе

I don’t watch TV very much. I don’t really think that’s good that all the people watching a television channel learn and believe the same information and are confronted with a very small selection of opinions on things. I think it influences people greatly, especially in their attitudes. You could say that if it wasn’t for TV, they would receive a smaller amount of information about the world, but I feel that in these circumstances people would receive more information from their immediate environment and live more real lives based more on first-hand experience and less on second-hand information. And I’m not sure that it’s very healthy for the eyes to be staring at a TV signal for as long as the average person in Russia, for example.

But the TV has the good sides. You can enjoy different programmes on it without leaving home. There are a lot of interesting education programmes on TV, by the way. When you have nothing to do or get bored, TV will make you feel better.

I prefer reading books to watching TV, to be honest. I think, it’s better to learn something new reading books because they are based more on first-hand experience. However, I always liked a small selection of films. If I missed a film in the cinema, I can be sure that it will be shown on TV soon.

When I was a child, I seemed to spend half of my life in front of the television. Everyday, coming home from school, all day long at weekends when I was at home and for much of the summer holidays, I sat in front of the box. However, as my views of the world changed and I found out other interests, my attitude towards TV changed greatly. Now I watch TV very seldom because I’m very busy. I come home after school and training very tired and must do my homework. Because of it I have no time and efforts to watch television.
